Granite, Grapes, and Galicia: The Story of Viña Caeira
Viña Caeira was born from the earth, mixing tradition and history in Salvaterra de Miño on soils of gravel and quartz pebbles. This is a perfect match for the Albariño grape, and thus enchanted by Galicia and its outstanding wines, Carlos Moro created Viña Caeira in the Rías Baixas DO. The Condado do Tea sub-region is further inland, warmer, and drier than Salnes or O Rosal, producing richer and broader wines. The winery is surrounded by just over 2ha of Albariño and there are hundreds of granite trellises that the vines wrap around as they grow and seek the sun.
This Albariño wine has aromatic notes of lime, green apple, apricot, and tropical passion fruit, complemented by a herbal background of mint and fennel, it is well-balanced, smooth, and distinctively salty. It pairs beautifully with Galician/Spanish cheeses, grilled razor clams, mussels, fish like sea bream, turbot, and cod, as well as Japanese dishes like sushi and sashimi.
