The wine made at Casa al Vento invokes passion, love, and tradition, just a few kilometres from the village of Gaiole at the heart of Chianti Classico and surrounded by oak forest, wild rosemary, and scrub. In 2008 the estate completed conversion to organic viticulture, growing mainly Sangiovese on the famous Galestro marl soils of the Classico area. Winemaking is a mixture of modern flourish and traditional technique – long macerations on the skins for structure and ageing in neutral oak barrels both large and small to soften the tannins without hiding the fruit.
