Cantine di Orgosolo: United in Tradition, Rooted in Sardinia

In 2006, 17 small wine producers joined forces to form the Cantine di Orgosolo winery on the island of Sardinia, each grower working around a hectare of vines on granitic soil at 300-700m altitude. Their aim was to select the best Cannonau (Grenache) and Bovale Sardo (Graciano) grapes from their vineyards to produce concentrated and complex red wines, with yields less than half of those permitted in the DOC. Viticulture is in conversion to certified organic, with some growers adopting biodynamics also, whilst the cellar work involves minimal intervention using only indigenous yeast and low levels of added sulphur.

Wines from Cantine di Orgosolo:

'Neale' Cannonau Di Sardegna DOC

Neale is a blend of Cannonau and Bovale Sardo with crisp tobacco and cherry aromas, juicy red fruit on the palate and elegant tannins, aged 6 months in stainless steel tanks and perfect with stews, grilled meats, and semi-hard cheeses.

'Urùlu' Cannonau Di Sardegna DOC

Urùlu is a blend of Cannonau, Carignano, and Bovale Sardo with wild berry aromas, spicy notes and soft tannins, with a fresh, harmonious palate, aged in oak for 12 months it is perfect with full-bodied sauces, roasted meats, and roast suckling pig.
