Vale Cuatro: A Legacy of Winemaking in the Uco Valley

Current proprietor Gerardo Meli is the fourth generation to take the reins, his great-grandfather an Italian emigrant who decided to settle in Valle de Uco in the early 1900s. In his hands, the Tupungato-based winery originally constructed in 1909 then modernised in 1952 continues to make wines that embody the true essence of the Uco Valley. Into the 21st century, Gerardo has made sustainability improvements including solar power and driven technological upgrades to the winemaking. The range includes varietal Chardonnay, Malbec, and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as Torrontes made with prolonged skin contact. Vale Cuatro is a popular shout heard during Argentina’s most popular card game Truco, meaning “it’s worth 4!”, and adorns the bottle of their classic Uco Valley Malbec.
