Milziade Antano: Guardians of Sagrantino and Tradition in the Heart of Umbria
Milziade Antano was founded in 1969 thanks to Cavaliere Milziade Antano, a sharecropper and one of the leading figures in the history of the Sagrantino variety whose replanting efforts stopped this native grape disappearing from the hillsides of Umbria. The winery boasts some of the most beautiful vineyards in the area, such as the famous Colleallodole, named for migrating skylarks, in the heart of an area with a thousand-year-old tradition in the production of wine and olive oil. There are approximately 20ha of vineyards, on breezy hilly terrain south of the city of Perugia, and winemaking is traditional and performed without chemical use.
